The time has come to think outside the box. More regulations are not always the answer. In order to experience economic growth, we must provide an atmosphere that businesses find attractive and reliable.
Government Regulation - A partial, or better yet total, repeal of the tax on business assets such as inventory, machinery and equipment, and vehicles will free up capital, allowing for expansion and reinvestment. As the business grows, more tax revenue is collected from increased utility use, fuel use, sales, and employment.
Energy West Virginia - provides the world with energy. In 2010 we were not just in the top 10 of coal producing states, we were second only to Wyoming. We must combine exploration and extraction with environmental sensitivity. We can conduct extraction activities responsibly.
Infrastructure - Our Infrastructure, especially in Kanawha County, once supported some of the most significant chemical and industrial facilities in the nation. Much of those resources are still in place; rail lines, roads, and river access. However, like a house that stands vacant, unused infrastructure begins to deteriorate. A focus on renovating our infrastructure is critical to encouraging economic growth.
